Funny Stories

I guess Andrew is getting to the age that kids start doing funny/potentially embarassing things. On Friday, he "met" a girl at the park and immediately started holding her hand... he moves fast! I'm surprised he hasn't gotten her number yet! On Saturday, he did a double take of a cute 1.5 yr-old girl and spun around 180-degrees to chase her down. At this rate, I'll be sending out wedding invitations before summer!
How often do 2 1-yr-olds play together? Not very often. That's why we have a picture of it. Here's another funny (the funniest) story for you. After the above exciting fire truck ride, Joshua was changed into his jammies including a diaper change. Andrew sat close by to watch and make sure everything went all right. (I guess.) Once Joshua had his diaper on, he rolled over so that he was on his belly at which time Andrew took the opportunity to pat Joshua on the rear 5 or 6 times. In Gabe's (Joshua's dad's) words, it felt like we were at the Super Bowl and Andrew was saying, "Nice diaper change, Joshua. Way to go, man."

This May Be Boring To Some...

These are some things I've been wanting to post about, but I haven't had the time...

I feel like I'm just starting to get back on track. I've been leading a crazy life since Thanksgiving. I'm just starting to feel refreshed and ready to start... Although I don't know what I'm starting... I guess a normal life again.

I'm now faced with the decision of how to make next December different. I really enjoyed the past month, but I don't think it was healthy or best for my family. (Judging mainly on the fact that all three of us were sick the entire time.) I know what's most important, but I don't know how to apply those priorities to December... Please pray for me for wisdom.

I never really had hobbies in my life until Andrew was born. I think that's one of the benefits of being a stay-at-home mom. I never had time to do something like blog before. When I saw December coming, I knew my hobbies would be the first things to go. I was sad to have to put blogging on hold, but you were patient with me. I was sad to cut out running, but I'm getting back into shape fine. I was sad to stop my Mandarin CD's for a month, but I can pick it up again with a little effort. I was most sad to give up time with friends that I'm used to... Playdates "for Andrew" and dinner with the Encarnacions and walks to the park... Those kinds of things... This is what I wish I had more time for. Is anyone else on board for making December a few days longer???

I'm learning to cook without wheat, dairy, or eggs being those are the things Andrew is allergic to. Try it. It's a much healthier way to live.

I didn't eat ice cream for over a month and I haven't died yet.

Andrew is walking!!! January 4th (in Nevada City), Andrew took his first steps from his Nonnie to me!!! It's been constant daily improvement since then. What a stud! He also has 11 teeth now. Watch your fingers!

I am SO excited about the marathon. I'm registered and everything. I can't believe I'm actually going to do this. The thought of crossing the finish line got me teary-eyed the other day... I am such a girl! (Weird thing- I never used to cry. Now (after Andrew being born), I just can't help it. I'm a total wimp!)

I think that about covers it. I hope I didn't bore any of you too much... By the way, did any of you notice that the tree in my last entry is planted in contcrete completely? Only at South Coast Plaza!

Perfect Day

We've been enjoying the beautiful weather around here lately. A week ago Monday, we went to Fashion Island in Newport and walked around in the sunshine. Here's a picture of my two boys at El Torrito Grill.

This past Monday, we went to South Coast Plaza and enjoyed some outdoor lunch and relaxing time and then some shopping!!! (with giftcards... my favorite way to shop!) I got some cute pants from Banana Republic on sale from $128 to $12.97!
I loved this little area we found outside of Macy's with a "fountain" that was about 50 yards long. It started here where it looked like a jacuzzi. I wish we had brought our bathing suits! :) The weather was perfect! (Hence the title of this post.) It really felt like the perfect day!

Catch Up #5 (and final): Edwards' Visit

My sister, Sara, and her family came by our house a couple weeks ago on their way home from vacation. We had a fun visit with them. It's so much fun watching the cousins play together. I love the pic above because each one of them looks so silly!
Annalise was showing off some new tricks for us here.
Ok. So this is an adorable pic of Annalise, but look at Nathan in the background... What is he doing??? :)

Catch Up #4: Christmas in Nevada City

Here's the Barber Clan. Although it was a bit late this year (January 3-6), we still got to celebrate Christmas with Gabe's fam.

I always like this kind of pic better... although a very important person was missing... :) (Getting the camera ready for the first shot.)
We had a great time hanging out at the Barbers' house. I love their "new" house and it was the perfect place for the holidays. All three of us were sick when we got there so we spent a large amount of time on these couches resting. One reason I love Gabe's family is for their love for music and "the arts". It's not unusual to spend an evening playing the guitar and singing or listening to Jesse recite poetry that he has memorized. I love it!
I'm calling this snow. I wanted it to snow so badly while we were there and we did get this hail storm, but I really think some of it was snow.

Aren't they cute grandparents?
Christmas gift time!
By the third day, Andrew and I were down to runny noses and coughs so we went sledding with Leila. I LOVE SLEDDING!!! Seriously, I can't even begin to tell you how much I enjoy it.We had a fun time exploring and looking for good sledding paths.

We had the little man bundled up in so many layers. I'm surprised he wasn't sweating.

Catch Up #3: Winter Retreat

Every New Year's Day weekend, EFC (our denomination) puts together a retreat for the English ministry (mainly junior high thru young families). This was the first time that we have gotten to go. We had a great time! It was up in Big Bear at Pine Summit for 4 days... in the snow!!!
It was a really good time for all of the youth to hang out. It really seemed like they grew closer together up on the mountain.
Snow!
Okay... so every youth retreat needs to have a trashcan race, right? Here's ours. Each team had one person run across the field at a time and (try to) get to the other side. Then you switch with the next person on your team and so on. CHAOS!!! I think we had one real inury and several near misses... not bad for one game, right? :)
Snowball fight!!! (I will hopefully soon have a utube up of Brian dancing up there. He, he, he...)
Here's our little snow baby. Andrew loved it! He liked the way the snow sounded under his feet as he walked. Crunch! I really think this is how he got so much better at walking (with help still here).
The fam.
I LOVE this pic!
Andrew learned how to brush his hair. How cute!
Doesn't this pic take you back to retreats of your own?

Catch Up #2: Christmas in Fresno

Merry Christmas!!!
Baby Brayden in his elf-garb.
My Dad who gave Andrew his baby blues.
Nathan on Christmas morning sitting on his gift that Santa brought him and his sister. I remember getting the same thing from Santa one year for my sisters and I... Oh, the memories... :)
Annalise on Christmas morning. What a fun morning!!! Sara, Jo, and my Mom and all of the families were in Fresno to celebrate. It was a quick, but fun visit.

Catch-Up #1: Andrew's Birthday Party

Andrew's first birthday party (Dec. 16th) was great. Thanks to Amy, Marco, and Joleen, I got some great shots of the event. Here's the little man stuffing his face with his gluten-free, dairy-free cupcake... mmmmmm...Noah and Andrew celebrating their big days together... as twins always do!
Baby blue eyes!
The party!... I'll explain more later on why we're in our garage...
Now is "later". Problem #1: Outdoor parties in the rain are tough. Problem #2: Booking a reservation at a park is always a good idea.... oops... we couldn't find a way to reserve it online as you could other parks so we thought you didn't need to... wrong!
No explanation needed.
How cute is this guy?!

Sorry. I don't know how to rotate pics off the top of my head and I don't have time right now. Tilt your head a little to the left. There you go.
A little more to the left... I love this pic taken by Amy. I figured it's a good conclusion for a party.
